SUBMISSION
GUIDELINES
Read
this page carefully.
We are currently accepting submissions for the 2013 issue to be published in April, National Poetry Month. We intend to support both established and aspiring artists and
writers who are more than serious about their work. We are committed to promoting diversity and celebrating the voice of the individual through poetry and art.
DEADLINE: February 28, 2013
Poetically Speaking does not accept previously published work; however,
we will accept simultaneous submissions, if so noted. Please inform us immediately if your submission is accepted elsewhere. Also, we do not accept
submissions by direct mail. Please use these submission guidelines when submitting work. If you send us work, please wait for a response to
your first submission before you submit again.
Please read this page carefully before submitting any poetry to Poetically Speaking.
By doing so you can avoid having your work disregarded.
Submissions can be any length and address any theme. We
welcome fresh, vigorous and thought provoking poetry (free
of obscenities, strong profanity, themes of hate against those of another race, religion or ethnic background).
By submitting, you certify that the work is not in violation of copyright
laws , and you give PoeticallySpeaking.net one-time publishing rights in our annual digitally published issue.
There is currently no pay for published work at Poetically Speaking. However, you
will gain exposure; this site is globally read. PoeticallySpeaking.net
asks for first rights to any piece selected for publication. At the time of publication, all rights revert back to the author/artist; however, PoeticallySpeaking.net
retains the right to publish the piece(s) in any subsequent issue or anthology, whether in print or online, without payment. Should you decide to republish
the piece(s) elsewhere, we ask that you cite Poetically Speaking as a place of previous publication and provide Poetically Speaking's web address.
Do not submit poetry in ALL CAPS!
It's a sure way of having it disregarded.
We are currently receiving submissions in the following areas:
Poetry: We are open to a wide variety of poetry. Although there are no length restrictions,
please do not send any life works or excerpts from novels. We publish poetry, a little prose, but not works of fiction in length.
Send up to five (5) poems/submissions. Do not send individual pieces separately unless you're only submitting one piece for the submission period. There is no need
to query prior to submitting poetry.
Poetry Book Reviews: We accept reviews of poetry collections (books and chapbooks).
Artwork: We accept photography, digital art, pen and ink, paintings, water color
(prints), etc. Submit 3-5 pieces of artwork for consideration.
DEADLINE: February 28, 2013
Again, Poetically Speaking does not accept previously published material. We do our best to respond to submissions in 4-6 weeks. We will be accepting submissions through February 28, 2013. The 2013 issue will be released in April.
